LINCOLN’S IMPS ON TOUR!

Sculptures Travel to Kings Cross as Part of Promotional Visit

8th June 2021

Lincoln BIG and the Lincoln Imp Trail are proud to be supporting LNER and Visit Lincoln with a promotional visit for the City of Lincoln to Kings Cross Station. A small selection of the 31 Imp Trail Imps appeared as part of a Lincoln-themed display at the station to promote the city as a summer city break destination. LNER and Visit Lincoln’s displays will include films highlighting the city and staff will be on hand to share information on the opportunities to spend time and explore the city. The Lincoln event took place on 28th and 29th May and coincides with advertising to promote the city on the Northern Line barriers.

Lincoln BIG have worked in partnership with Visit Lincoln on a number of initiatives to promote the city, as a destination rich in variety and history, offering unique shopping experiences alongside famous high street stores, artisan treats in cafés, restaurants and pubs, award winning Lincolnshire chefs plus activities for all the family.

The latest campaign ‘IN Lincoln’ is the result of this partnership, which has delivered a promotional campaign with the City of Lincoln Council to encourage people to come into Lincoln for shopping, work and play.

The Lincoln Imp Trail is the third city-wide sculpture trail delivered by Lincoln BIG, the city’s Business Improvement District. Lincoln BIG aims to put Lincoln on the map as a retail and tourist destination and improve the experience of the city centre for those who live, work, invest, study and visit. To achieve this, Lincoln BIG provides a range of services to support businesses in the city which includes supporting the city to be Covid secure, family friendly trails, cleaning and painting, street dressing, an open topped tour bus, as well as discounted bus travel and car parking for those employed in the BID area.

Lincoln BIG is one of over 300 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) operating in the UK, all of which work to improve the environment in the defined area in which they are operating. BIDs have provided a lifeline in many areas by creating a great experience on the High Street through events and activities, and working alongside Destination Management Organisations such as Visit Lincoln they contribute to the revival of Britain’s High Streets. Each BID is unique and operates differently but through a strong national network are supportive of each other and work collaboratively to share information and ideas in order that all areas of the UK are able to benefit from experiences and activities elsewhere. As part of this support, Lincoln BIG was pleased to welcome, Simon Pitkeathley, the CEO of Camden Town Unlimited and Euston Town BIDs to visit the Lincoln IMP Trail display as part of the Lincoln promotional visit to Kings Cross. Simon, works closely with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and his local MP, Sir Keir Starmer. Simon commented, ‘It’s always great to see the range of activities and events that other BIDs undertake to support their local businesses. We’re pleased to welcome our colleagues from Lincoln to the Camden and Euston Town BID areas, and hope that they are able to attract visitors from this event to their welcoming city which has become an ideal destination for a day trip or a city break, just as we welcome people from Lincoln to come and visit us here in ‘the big smoke’.

Sarah Loftus, CEO of Lincoln BIG said, ‘Being able to highlight our city in Kings Cross as well as the activities of Lincoln BIG in the form of the Lincoln IMP Trail should demonstrate the range of opportunities that a trip to Lincoln can offer to visitors of all ages. Our city offers a wealth of things to do whatever your interests – artisan foods, independent shops and boutiques, great arts and culture, all contribute to a unique experience. ‘ All enquirers should be directed to Sarah Loftus email sarahloftus@lincolnbig.co.uk.
